Gentex to Supply U.S. Army With Advanced Communication Headsets
The U.S. Army has selected Gentex Corporation to supply its Ops-Core AMP Communication Headset for the service's Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) prototyping efforts. These systems are slated for deployment during work-up experiments leading to the Project Convergence Capstone 6 event, aiming to modernize soldier connectivity and protection.

The integration effort centers on the AMP Communication Headset, which offers 3D audio enhancement and a 22 NRR hearing protection rating. By utilizing dual removable downleads, the system allows soldiers to maintain simultaneous connections to vehicle intercommunication systems and body-worn radios. This eliminates the traditional requirement to switch between ground combat and vehicle crewman helmets during transitions between mounted and dismounted operations.
Beyond the headsets, Gentex is providing a suite of specialized hardware, including the AP-107 3-way Push-to-Talk solution and Near Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) earplugs that provide a combined 34 dB NRR rating without requiring batteries or wired connections. The company has also developed a new IHPS ARC Rail prototype to ensure secure mounting of the communication gear onto the Army’s Integrated Head Protection System. Kevin Reilly, Segment Director for Close Combat at Gentex, noted that the project underscores the company's commitment to integrating hearing protection into existing headborne platforms. The deployment builds on Gentex's history of supplying integrated systems to military forces across more than 20 countries.
