Physician Partners of America Targets Complex Pain Beyond the Spine

Tampa-based Physician Partners of America is shifting its clinical focus toward non-musculoskeletal conditions, moving beyond standard spinal care to address pain linked to oncology, hematology, and vascular disease. The initiative aims to integrate interventional pain management into specialized treatment pathways for patients facing chronic nerve damage and surgical recovery.

While the organization built its reputation on treating sciatica and degenerative disc disease, its current expansion addresses a wider spectrum of pathology. Specialists are now deploying advanced pain management for patients dealing with sickle cell pain amplification, chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, and post-thoracotomy neuralgia. This shift encompasses diverse fields including nephrology, gynecology, and sleep medicine, where chronic pain often acts as a secondary, yet debilitating, complication.

"Many patients and healthcare providers are surprised to learn how many non-musculoskeletal conditions can benefit from specialized pain management," said CEO Josh Helms. By targeting the underlying sources of discomfort through minimally invasive therapies, the group intends to bridge the gap between primary specialists and long-term recovery. With 44 locations currently operating across Florida, Texas, and California, the organization is scaling its multidisciplinary model to provide evidence-based intervention for patients whose pain profiles fall outside the traditional orthopedic scope.
