NUNM Relocates to Downtown Portland for 70th Anniversary

The university began operations at the new site on June 1, shifting its academic focus to an adaptive reuse project intended to bolster Portland's core. President Melanie Henriksen described the relocation as a strategic effort to increase institutional accessibility and engagement, positioning students and faculty directly within the urban environment. The current facility houses classrooms, a library, and laboratories, serving as the first stage of a broader developmental plan.

While the main campus has transitioned downtown, the institution’s primary care health center remains at the Lair Hill location. University leadership plans to expand the new campus with a clinical simulation center and a 'Food as Medicine' kitchen, though these additions depend on future funding. The move reinforces the school’s long-standing mission of training integrative healthcare professionals, aiming to improve service access for underserved populations as the institution enters its eighth decade.
