Körber debuts STEPLogic Tracker to streamline FDA food traceability

With the FDA’s July 20, 2028, compliance deadline for FSMA 204 looming, Körber has unveiled STEPLogic Tracker. The new software aims to replace fragmented paper records and spreadsheets with a structured, app-based system designed to help food manufacturers manage lot-level data and meet strict 24-hour recall record retrieval requirements.

The platform focuses on the operational realities of food production, specifically targeting mid-sized manufacturers that struggle with disconnected supply chain systems. By organizing Critical Tracking Events and Key Data Elements into a digital workflow, the tool allows teams to maintain genealogy records across receiving, transformation, and shipping processes. This digital centralization is critical for companies facing the FDA's mandate to provide comprehensive traceability reports within a 24-hour window upon request.

Matthew Deep, Director of Product and Services Consulting at Körber, noted that many companies currently rely on manual processes that are difficult to manage in high-paced environments. STEPLogic Tracker integrates into the broader STEPLogic suite to provide a more practical, business-ready approach to compliance. By standardizing how these records are captured and retrieved, the solution reduces the administrative burden of FSMA Section 204 while ensuring that food companies remain audit-ready as the 2028 enforcement date approaches.
