Instagram Reels arrive on Amazon Fire TV
The living room is the latest frontier for Meta’s short-form video strategy as Instagram launches a dedicated television application. Beginning Tuesday in the United States, the pilot program brings a personalized feed of portrait-oriented content to Amazon Fire TV devices, marking a shift from mobile device exclusivity toward home entertainment hardware.

The app interface prioritizes navigation through horizontal collections, allowing users to browse Reels categorized by topic, theme, or trending status. Upon selecting a video, the display expands to show the clip alongside engagement metrics and captions. The system supports multi-user households, enabling up to five accounts to remain logged in simultaneously to ensure recommendations remain tailored to individual viewing habits.
Instagram spokesperson Christine Pai confirmed that the rollout covers most Fire TV Stick models, alongside Fire TV Series 2 and Omni TVs. Beyond standard browsing, the platform includes a search function to locate specific creators or thematic content. While the current version functions as a standalone experience, Meta is exploring future updates, including using smartphones as remote controls and implementing more fluid channel-surfing capabilities to refine the big-screen viewing experience.
