Unedo Secures Apple's App of the Day Nod

With 44.5 million Americans speaking Spanish at home, a new platform has bypassed traditional gamification to capture Apple's App of the Day title. Unedo, an independent, ad-free app, targets intermediate and heritage speakers by trading repetitive streak counters for culturally dense storytelling written by contributors across the Spanish-speaking world.

The app fills a gap for high-achieving adults and heritage speakers who find conventional language software lacking in depth. Co-founders Olivier Peyre and Sonia Salvador designed the experience to take only 5-10 minutes daily, centering content on topics ranging from Almodóvar films to the history of Mexican folk music. Users engage with editorial features through puzzle-based 'Sparks' and 'Weekly Spotlights,' while a 'Rewind' tool builds a personalized vocabulary library.

By focusing on human-written narratives rather than automated drills, the platform positions itself as content for native speakers with 'training wheels.' This recognition follows the app's earlier inclusion in Apple’s Best New Apps 2026, validating a business model that treats language as a gateway to cultural immersion rather than a series of points to be earned.
