Customers purchasing new hardware must choose between merging their existing Vizio profiles with a Walmart account or deleting their data entirely. Vizio has notified users that those who opt for deletion have a 30-day window to request a copy of their personal information before the company purges the account records permanently.

While the forced migration is currently limited to new units, the company confirmed that the transition will eventually encompass the entire existing user base. This strategy effectively turns Vizio hardware owners into Walmart customers, centralizing device management and data collection under the retail giant’s digital umbrella.
