Meta indefinitely delays disputed business terms

Meta says its controversial new business terms will not take effect on November 20, 2026, extending a delay first announced last week. The wording had drawn scrutiny over whether it gave the company broad leeway to train AI on scraped publisher content.

The terms remained under scrutiny even after Meta updated them. Last week, the company said implementation was expected to be postponed beyond November 20, a date that had itself already been delayed.

Meta now states on its website that the terms “will not take effect on November 20, 2026,” Nieman Lab reported. The company has not provided a new implementation date in the statement cited by the publication.
