John Hartmann will take the helm at UniGroup on July 13, 2026, assuming the roles of President and Chief Executive Officer. He replaces Kevin A. Hartmann arrives with two decades of executive experience across retail and distribution sectors, including previous CEO roles at Ascend Wellness, True Value Company, and Mitre 10. His background also includes high-level operational oversight at Bed Bath & Beyond and The Home Depot. This appointment follows a rigorous search by the Board of Directors aimed at securing a leader capable of navigating complex cooperative governance while driving long-term value.

Chairman Gary Quintalino credited Krakora with restoring shareholder confidence and advancing key strategic initiatives during a critical transition period. The company, which operates United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit, and UniGroup Logistics, has recently funneled capital into technology and marketing to sharpen its competitive edge in the moving and specialty logistics markets. Hartmann plans to leverage this foundation to prioritize member profitability and accelerate the firm’s growth trajectory.
