The Memorandum of Understanding unites Flagship’s venture creation expertise—responsible for over 100 life sciences companies including Moderna—with the digital transformation capabilities of Lean, a Public Investment Fund enterprise. By combining these resources, the organizations intend to foster a robust ecosystem for scientific discovery while navigating the regulatory and privacy requirements necessary for large-scale health data application.

Junaid Bajwa, Senior Partner at Flagship Pioneering, noted that the convergence of AI and health data is fundamentally altering how researchers approach disease and patient outcomes. For his part, Lean CEO Eng. Mohanned Alrasheed emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s current investments in digital health provide a unique foundation for this shift. Over the next twelve months, the teams will focus on identifying priority initiatives and establishing the governance frameworks required to scale these innovations, aiming to position the Kingdom as a global hub for biotechnology and life sciences.
