Bulleit Releases Rare 20-Year-Old Straight Rye Whiskey

With a run limited to 1,776 bottles, Bulleit is reaching deep into its aging warehouses to release its oldest expression to date. The 20-Year-Old Straight Rye, crafted from the brand’s signature 95% rye mashbill, arrives this July as a cask-strength tribute to the grain that defined early American distilling.

The project was spearheaded by Nicole Austin, Director of American Whiskey Liquid Development at Diageo, who oversaw the selection of barrels capable of enduring two decades of maturation. Balancing the inherent spice of the rye with the influence of long-term oak aging proved the primary challenge, resulting in a 137-proof spirit that retains the structural intensity characteristic of the brand’s younger offerings. Distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and aged in Kentucky, the liquid features notes of seasoned oak, baking spice, and dark fruit.

Brian Blackiston, Brand Manager for Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, noted that the release serves as both a historical nod and a technical demonstration of how their signature profile evolves over time. The bottles are set for a nationwide rollout in select cities with a suggested retail price of $299. Collectors and enthusiasts can also reserve bottles for pickup directly at the Bulleit Distilling Company in Shelbyville, Kentucky, through the AnyRoad platform.
