Miami Police Deploy Airwayz Tech to Secure World Cup Fan Fest
Thousands of soccer fans gathered at Miami’s Bayfront Park for FIFA World Cup festivities under the watch of a new aerial defense network. To mitigate threats from unauthorized drones, the Miami Police Department integrated the Airwayz OVERWATCH platform, a sophisticated governance tool managed locally by defense contractor NOBLE.
The partnership creates a unified command interface by merging radar, radio frequency data, and edge-AI acoustic sensors. By pulling information from DefenSync and Spherelink, the system grants officers a clear view of the airspace stretching up to a mile beyond the venue perimeter. This setup allows security teams to identify and track aerial incursions in real time, ensuring that law enforcement can intercept potential hazards before they reach the crowded waterfront event.
Beyond hardware deployment, the NOBLE IQ division provides the tactical training necessary for officers to interpret threat telemetry during high-pressure scenarios. This integration of logistics and software aims to eliminate security blind spots throughout the tournament. By connecting specialized sensor arrays with on-site patrol units, the initiative offers a scalable model for protecting large, complex public gatherings from the growing challenge of unmanned aerial activity.
