True Green Capital Acquires 20.3 Megawatt Solar Portfolio in the UK
A 20.3-megawatt portfolio of operating solar assets has moved to Westport-based True Green Capital Management, marking the firm's second acquisition of UK-listed assets. The deal, finalized June 22, consolidates six projects that have been generating power since 2011 across the United Kingdom.
These assets operate under 25-year Feed-in Tariff contracts extending through 2036, bolstered by short-term Power Purchase Agreements with established energy retailers. The acquisition reflects True Green Capital’s strategy of targeting mature renewable infrastructure where technical oversight can unlock additional value.
Co-founder Panos Ninios noted the firm’s intent to pursue further similar acquisitions, citing their specialized sector knowledge and public market experience. Managing Director for Europe Sam Salisbury emphasized that as these assets mature, in-house management and potential repowering capabilities become the primary drivers for performance optimization. Legal counsel for the transaction was provided by Shoosmiths. True Green Capital, which manages over $2.3 billion in solar and storage assets across the U.S., the UK, and France, continues to focus on sub-utility scale generation to meet rising demand from data centers and building electrification.
