After a 24-year tenure at the Federal Aviation Administration, Rob Hunt has joined federal technology partner Evans Incorporated as Vice President of Aviation. Hunt joins Evans following a senior role at MITRE’s Center for Integration Transportation. His background includes serving as Director of AJM2 within the FAA’s Program Management Organization, where he oversaw the implementation of national air traffic automation systems. At Evans, he will manage a portfolio focused on aviation strategy, business development, and client delivery, aiming to bridge the gap between complex federal requirements and emerging technological solutions.

Managing Partner Bob Etris noted that Hunt’s experience in navigating technical and operational hurdles is essential for the firm’s long-term vision. The ongoing transition of the National Airspace System involves coordinating thousands of contractor touchpoints, a process Hunt intends to streamline by moving away from bespoke, single-vendor builds. Instead, he advocates for an industry shift toward open-source software and cloud-native architectures. This approach seeks to eliminate vendor lock-in while maintaining the rigorous safety standards required for national airspace operations.
