Michael Svagdis Joins Tailwind Hospitality as President
After a decade leading SSP America, industry veteran Michael Svagdis is moving to Tailwind Hospitality to spearhead the company's expansion. Based in Wilmington, North Carolina, the airport concession operator aims to leverage his expertise to scale its footprint across regional and non-hub transit stations throughout the United States.
Svagdis brings two decades of executive experience in food, beverage, and retail to the firm. During his tenure as CEO of SSP America, he oversaw operations in more than 50 airports, driving significant revenue growth. His background also includes leadership roles as CEO of Eurest Dining Services and President of Morrison Healthcare Food Services.
At Tailwind, Svagdis will partner with CEO Jeff Switzer to refine operations and manage the company’s portfolio of over 160 revenue centers across 60 transit locations. Switzer described the hire as a strategic investment, citing Svagdis's history of managing large-scale, multi-airport operations as a catalyst for the company’s next growth phase. Tailwind, founded in 2004, differentiates its business model by tailoring its retail and dining venues to the specific cultural needs of the smaller airports it serves.
