Telepathic Instruments Relaunches Orchid Synth With Arctic Edition
After months of silence, the Orchid synth—a collaborative project with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker—is returning to the market on May 11. Telepathic Instruments is pairing the standard $649 release with a limited run of the "Arctic" edition, a transparent variant priced at $699 that draws inspiration from mid-century chord organs.

Designed to simplify the creation of rich chord progressions, the Orchid bypasses the need for complex music theory or intricate fingerings. Its success triggered supply shortages shortly after its debut, though the manufacturer expects steady availability for the standard model moving forward. Collectors should note that the Arctic variant is capped at 3,000 units, with priority access reserved for those already on the company's waitlist.
Beyond hardware, the company is launching Pistil, a $99 plug-in version of the synth engine. This software integration allows musicians to access the Orchid’s sound palette directly within a digital audio workstation. More importantly, it functions as a bridge, enabling users to control the physical hardware instrument directly from their computer interface.
