Black Kite Adds Data Protection Veteran Jim Clancy as Strategic Advisor
With over 25 years of experience in global sales and data protection, Jim Clancy has joined Boston-based Black Kite as a strategic advisor. The appointment aims to bolster the company’s AI-native third-party cyber risk management platform as it navigates a period of rapid organizational expansion.

Clancy previously held a prominent role as Senior Vice President of Global Sales for the data protection division at Dell and EMC. During his tenure, he managed a global team of over 1,000 professionals and oversaw multi-billion-dollar revenue streams. Beyond his corporate history, he currently holds a seat on the Board of Directors at Quantum and maintains advisory positions at firms including Amplix, HYCU, and Index Engines.
CEO Paul Paget noted that Clancy's background in scaling global organizations will be critical as the company addresses the urgent challenge of third-party cyber exposure. For his part, Clancy emphasized that the firm’s integration of AI with external risk signals offers a necessary shift in how companies manage security within connected ecosystems. He joins an advisory roster that already features industry figures such as Jack Jones, the originator of the FAIR risk measurement model, and security transformation leader Alpa Inamdar.
