LinkedIn introduces reporting tool to combat AI-generated content
LinkedIn is rolling out a dedicated reporting button that allows users to flag posts they suspect are AI-generated, a move aimed at cleaning up feeds cluttered by synthetic content. The update follows data suggesting that nearly 41 percent of long-form posts on the platform may be entirely machine-authored.

Chief product officer Hari Srinivasan confirmed that curbing AI-driven low-quality material has become a top priority for the company. Alongside the new user-facing reporting tool, LinkedIn is deploying internal classifiers designed to automatically identify and suppress synthetic or low-value posts from suggested feeds and networks outside a user’s immediate connections. The company intends to use the feedback gathered from these flags to refine its recommendation algorithms and improve overall feed relevance.
Beyond manual reporting, LinkedIn is pivoting away from generative enhancements. The platform is retiring its AI-based post-writing tools, replacing them with a proofreading feature intended to correct grammar without altering the author's original voice. In future tests, the company may also notify users if their content is perceived by the community as inauthentic or overly reliant on automated generation.
