Instructure and AWS Partner to Expand Global Education Access

Many institutions remain anchored to legacy, on-premise systems simply because migration costs are prohibitive. To bridge this gap, Instructure is developing AI-powered migration tools designed to streamline the transition to cloud-based infrastructure. By reducing the technical and financial friction of moving to the Canvas LMS, the company intends to allow under-resourced schools to prioritize student outcomes over IT overhead.

Simultaneously, the initiative accelerates the expansion of Canvas Career, a platform tailored for vocational training, community colleges, and adult education. The roadmap focuses on two fronts: creating secure, low-connectivity tools for remote and correctional facilities, and implementing AI-driven skill mapping to better align training with regional job requirements.

Instructure plans to track progress through quarterly public reports, focusing on metrics such as credential attainment and job placement rates. The initial phase of the rollout targets the United States, Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, specifically prioritizing rural K-12 districts, community colleges, and correctional programs. According to Chief Learning Officer Melissa Loble, the collaboration seeks to build systems that function effectively even for those facing the most significant barriers to opportunity.
