The capital is earmarked for the nation's general budgetary requirements, offering the government a flexible and competitive alternative to traditional financing. Samuel Canineu, Chief Commercial Officer at Bladex, noted that the deal underscores the bank's capacity to deliver large-scale solutions for sovereign clients while reinforcing its long-standing connection to Panama, where the bank was established 45 years ago.

Since its inception in 1979, Bladex has evolved from a regional initiative by Latin American central banks into a publicly traded powerhouse on the New York Stock Exchange. The bank operates across the Americas, with a footprint spanning from Brazil and Argentina to a New York agency. This latest credit facility serves to diversify Panama’s funding sources, leveraging Bladex’s deep institutional ties to state-owned banks and private investors across 23 countries in the region.
