Boox Palma 3 shifts to aluminum design with stylus support
Priced at $339.99, the Boox Palma 3 departs from its predecessor’s plastic aesthetic with a refined anodized aluminum frame and fiberglass backplate. While the device retains the familiar 6.13-inch E Ink display, the inclusion of Boox InkSense Plus stylus support transforms the pocket-sized reader into a portable digital notepad.
The hardware migration arrives nearly two years after the initial smartphone-sized reader debuted, marking a $60 price increase over the Palma 2. Despite the premium exterior, internal specifications remain largely consistent with previous generations: the device utilizes a Qualcomm Q-6690 octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage, further supplemented by a microSD card slot for additional capacity.
Functionality receives a boost through the adoption of Android 16, a significant leap from the older OS versions found on earlier models. This software update aims to align the e-reader closer to modern mobile standards. Other carryover features include a 3950mAh battery, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a fingerprint sensor integrated directly into the power button. Boox has not provided a precise release date, noting only that the device will be available soon.
