Fred Bryant Recognized in 2026 In-House Counsel Awards
Virginia Lawyers Weekly has named Virginia Housing Chief Counsel Fred Bryant an honoree for the 2026 In-House Counsel Awards. The program highlights attorneys who manage complex contract negotiations and high-stakes litigation while serving as leaders within the legal community across the Commonwealth.

Bryant’s career at Virginia Housing spans more than three decades, beginning in 1993 as associate counsel. He steadily advanced through the organization’s legal department, serving as senior, associate general, and deputy general counsel before his appointment as chief counsel in 2021. Before joining the housing authority, he completed clerkships with the Virginia Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court in Abingdon.
Virginia Housing CEO Tammy Neale credited Bryant for his role in driving programmatic changes that have expanded housing affordability throughout the state. The award, which recognizes excellence in the field, was presented today during a ceremony in Richmond held in partnership with Virginia Business.
