Marel Power Solutions Wins $1.9M Grant to Expand Michigan Pilot Line

Marel Power Solutions has secured $1.9 million through the Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant Program to scale its domestic manufacturing of high-density power electronics. The Plymouth-based company is one of eleven suppliers sharing a $21 million state-led initiative designed to modernize automotive supply chains for electric vehicles and beyond.

The capital will fund equipment for a pilot production line focused on the company’s signature power stacks—configurable platforms that manage energy conversion between AC and DC. By optimizing the packaging and cooling of power semiconductors, Marel claims its architecture delivers equivalent power in roughly one-quarter of the space at a 30% lower cost than traditional designs.

CEO Amrit Vivekanand noted that the company’s technology addresses a critical bottleneck in modern hardware. As AI infrastructure and data centers demand increasingly dense compute power, physical space for power conversion has become a premium asset. The firm’s ability to shrink the footprint of inverters and chargers provides a scalable solution for sectors ranging from automotive powertrains to defense systems, allowing clients to deploy pre-configured units rather than funding custom designs from scratch.
