Omron Debuts NXR-S Series to Decentralize Machine Safety Logic
With response times reaching 15 milliseconds, Omron Automation Americas has unveiled its NXR-S Series, a distributed safety I/O block that shifts decision-making closer to the point of action. The IP67-rated hardware integrates local safety logic with centralized CIP Safety management to streamline machine architecture and minimize wiring complexity.

The NXR-S Series simplifies industrial safety deployments by utilizing SmartClick M12 connectivity, which replaces traditional torque-controlled tools with a secure 1/8-turn connection system. This design choice reduces the physical footprint of cabling while accelerating installation timelines. By offering pre-defined and user-configurable safety applications, the system lowers the barrier for engineers to implement complex safety protocols without requiring deep expertise in specialized programming.
Maintenance teams gain visibility through a built-in Web UI, enabling diagnostics and status monitoring directly at the device level without secondary software. The platform supports communication with multiple CIP Safety originators, allowing manufacturers to consolidate their safety infrastructure. Compliant with international standards including IEC 61508 and ISO 13849, the hardware provides a standardized, scalable framework for global machine deployment.
