Alibaba Investors Face October Deadline in Securities Fraud Lawsuit
Investors who purchased Alibaba Group Holding Limited securities between June 26, 2025, and June 24, 2026, have until October 5 to petition the court for lead plaintiff status. The ongoing class action lawsuit alleges the tech giant misled shareholders regarding its ties to Chinese military-affiliated entities and risks involving AI model attacks.

The lawsuit, filed by The Rosen Law Firm, centers on claims that Alibaba failed to disclose critical regulatory and operational risks during the specified period. Specifically, the complaint alleges that the company was effectively affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, placing it under the regulatory scope of the National Defense Authorization Act. Furthermore, the litigation asserts that risks concerning distillation attacks against third-party AI models were not merely hypothetical, but represented an ongoing threat to the company’s business integrity.
Investors seeking to participate in the litigation may do so without paying out-of-pocket fees, as the case proceeds under a contingency arrangement. While the court has yet to certify a class, those interested in representing the group must file their motions by the October 5 deadline. Shareholders retain the right to select their own counsel or remain absent class members, as potential recovery is not contingent upon serving as a lead plaintiff.
