MediaTek Targets AI Era with Filogic 8800 Wi-Fi 8 Platform
At the Network X 2026 exhibition in Vienna, MediaTek unveiled its Filogic 8800 platform, shifting the focus of Wi-Fi 8 technology from peak individual speeds to robust, cross-generation network performance. The new hardware leverages AI-driven diagnostics to manage the coexistence of legacy devices while slashing power consumption by half.

The Filogic 8800 platform is designed to address the reality of modern connectivity, where devices spanning Wi-Fi 5 through Wi-Fi 8 must operate on the same infrastructure. By utilizing proprietary technologies like MediaTek DSO+ and NPCA+, the system expands dynamic bandwidth allocation and optimizes channel switching. In mixed-generation environments, these innovations boost overall system throughput by nearly 100% and improve throughput in high-density, congested networks by roughly 80%.
Beyond throughput, the platform integrates AI-assisted power management. The system adjusts transmission power based on real-time traffic patterns, cutting energy usage by 33% during typical workloads and up to 50% when idle bands are deactivated. For telecom operators, AI-driven diagnostics offer a significant operational shift: the technology is designed to reduce the Mean Time to Repair for network issues from several hours to under one minute, effectively lowering field service requirements by 20%. The platform is currently shortlisted for the Best Indoor Connectivity Solution at the Network X Awards.
