Martin Guitar Expands O'ahu Lineup With New Koa Models and Strings
Drawing inspiration from the 1920s Hawaiian music boom that influenced the modern acoustic guitar, C. F. Martin & Co. is adding two instruments and a specialty string set to its O'ahu collection. The release marks the first time the company has integrated a ukulele into this specific historical tribute series.

The new additions include the HG-28K2, a guitar featuring an all-koa construction that builds upon the existing HG-28 design. With a sloped-shoulder body shape and the depth of a 000 model, the instrument utilizes a 24.9-inch scale intended for player comfort. The combination of a solid koa top with flamed Hawaiian koa back and sides provides a distinct midrange projection and natural compression, finished in gloss to highlight the wood grain.
Expanding the family further, the TKE Uke Burst serves as the first ukulele under the O'ahu banner. This tenor-sized instrument pairs a spruce burst top with koa back and sides, equipped with Mi-Si Simple Jack electronics that offer a battery-free preamp. The ukulele comes factory-strung with the newly launched Martin O'ahu Low G strings, which feature Polygut material and a silver-wound Low G for increased resonance. These strings are also available separately to offer guitarists a familiar tonal transition when moving to the smaller instrument.
The HG-28K2 is priced at $4,199.99, while the TKE Uke Burst retails for $899.99. The strings are priced at $9.99. All items are available as of October 6, 2026, through authorized dealers and the manufacturer's website.
