DelNova pivots biopharma tech into natural deodorant market
Chicago-based DelNova is leveraging its clinical biopharma platform to launch SECCO, a patent-pending, aluminum-free deodorant. Supported by renowned dermatologist Dr. Kathy Fields, the product aims to resolve the long-standing industry compromise where consumers choose between clean ingredients and effective sweat inhibition.

The company’s new division, DelNaturals, seeks to bridge the gap between natural beauty standards and clinical performance. While legacy brands have relied on aluminum salts for over a century, SECCO utilizes a proprietary, plant-derived ingredient blend developed through the firm's existing research pipeline. By targeting perspiration at its source rather than simply masking odor, the brand intends to establish a new category in premium personal care.
Dr. Kathy Fields, known for co-founding Proactiv and Rodan + Fields, provides both scientific validation and commercial expertise to the venture. Her involvement signals a shift toward evidence-based consumer goods, moving away from the fragrance-focused marketing typical of the sector. CEO Mary Gardner noted that the company is actively courting investors who prioritize intellectual property and rigorous R&D over traditional beauty branding.
This move follows DelNova’s broader corporate strategy to diversify its output. While its primary therapeutic asset, ReViVox, remains focused on the multi-billion-dollar botulinum toxin market, the launch of SECCO provides a near-term commercial application for the company's technology. The firm is positioning this deodorant as the first in a series of planned expansions into high-end, science-backed personal care products.
