Microsoft Raises Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Price to $29.99
A 50 percent price hike hits Xbox Game Pass Ultimate today, pushing the monthly subscription cost from $19.99 to $29.99. Microsoft defends the sharp increase by bundling new perks across its tiered service, including expanded cloud gaming access and a larger catalog of titles for all subscribers.

The company is simultaneously shuffling its branding, renaming Xbox Game Pass Core to Essential and transitioning the Standard plan to Premium. Dustin Blackwell, director of gaming and platform communications at Microsoft, confirmed that all three tiers now feature broader libraries, specifically integrating PC games into the entry-level options. Subscribers across Essential and Premium plans gain access to unlimited cloud gaming for the first time.
Ultimate members, despite the $10 monthly jump, see an immediate expansion of their library to include over 400 global titles. Microsoft aims to bolster this value by promising more than 75 day-one releases annually. To kick off the restructuring, 45 new games have been added to the Ultimate tier today, featuring high-profile titles such as Hogwarts Legacy and several entries from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
