Logitech Debuts the Mobi Fold, a Pocket-Sized Folding Travel Mouse

Logitech has officially unveiled the Mobi Fold, an ultraportable mouse that pivots 130 degrees into a compact, clamshell-like form factor. Retailing at $79.99, the device targets frequent travelers who need a functional alternative to laptop trackpads, balancing a small footprint with advanced customization features and a durable, hinge-tested design.

The Mobi Fold distinguishes itself from flat-folding competitors like the Microsoft Arc by adopting a clamshell approach. Weighing 79 grams, the device measures roughly 2.6 by 2.5 inches when folded, roughly the size of a wireless earbud case. Logitech engineers designed the hinge to withstand 15 years of daily use, wrapping the mechanism in a pleated silicone skin that stretches during movement to prevent pinching.

Functionality remains robust despite the unconventional shape. The top surface features a multifunction touch panel flanked by two click buttons, with additional inputs at the top and bottom of the touch strip. Users can map these controls via the Logi Options Plus software to toggle scrolling speeds or navigation shortcuts. A 4K DPI optical sensor handles tracking, while a dedicated underside button allows seamless switching between three devices.

Power management leans into modern repairability standards. A removable panel on the bottom provides access to the rechargeable battery, a design choice likely influenced by recent EU regulations. Performance metrics are solid: a full charge lasts up to one month, with a one-minute quick charge providing 22 hours of use. While the flat ergonomics may require an adjustment period compared to traditional desktop mice, the Mobi Fold offers a specialized solution for users prioritizing portability and iPad multitasking.
