Gesynta Pharma Hits Recruitment Milestone in Endometriosis Trial

The NOVA trial, currently underway across Europe, evaluates the efficacy and safety of two different dose levels of the drug candidate. By targeting mPGES-1, an enzyme responsible for producing the proinflammatory mediator prostaglandin E2, vipoglanstat aims to offer an alternative to traditional hormonal therapies and opioids. Clinical sites have reported rapid progress in enrollment, which officials credit to strong patient interest in new, non-invasive therapeutic options for a disease that affects over 10% of reproductive-age women.

Eva Johnsson, Chief Medical Officer at Gesynta Pharma, noted that hitting the recruitment target ahead of schedule underscores the urgent demand for better pain management in endometriosis care. The data gathered from this study will serve as the foundation for a planned Phase 3 program. Researchers are specifically tracking the drug's impact on non-menstrual pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, and dyspareunia, while also exploring potential changes in lesion burden through MRI assessments.
