JMIR Publications Journals Climb in 2026 Impact Factor Rankings
Twelve journals from the JMIR Publications portfolio secured first-quartile rankings in the latest Clarivate Journal Citation Reports, signaling a continued dominance in digital health research. The flagship Journal of Medical Internet Research reached a record impact factor of 8.2, anchoring a year marked by widespread growth for the publisher.

The 2026 report highlights a significant expansion in the publisher's reach, with 18 of its titles recording year-over-year increases in impact factors. Notably, JMIR Medical Education continues to lead its field with a score of 13.9. Other titles saw dramatic shifts, such as JMIR AI, which surged to 6.1 to claim a top-quartile position, and JMIR Medical Informatics, which climbed to 5.0.
Three new titles received their first-ever impact factors, including JMIR Public Health and Surveillance, which debuted directly into the top quartile with a 4.4 rating. Tiffany I. Leung, Scientific Editorial Director, attributed these gains to the collective rigor of researchers and editorial staff. Despite these metrics, the publisher emphasized that these figures serve only as contextual indicators. As a signatory of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment, the organization maintains that citation counts should not be used as a proxy for individual article quality or researcher performance in hiring and promotion.
