Heather A. Lee Explores Women’s Psychedelic Healing in New Book
As psychedelic medicine transitions from clinical trials into the mainstream, psychotherapist Heather A. Lee is centering the female experience in her new book, The Psilocybin Sessions. The work moves beyond molecular research to document how women use plant medicine to navigate trauma, grief, and the search for authentic identity.
Modern Wisdom Press released the collection today, featuring a foreword by journalist Lisa Ling. Lee, a practitioner with over two decades of clinical experience and training from Harvard, draws on her work guiding more than 300 women through journeys in the United States, Mexico, and Portugal. Rather than framing psilocybin as a mere medical breakthrough, the book presents it as a tool for personal reawakening, documenting stories of women confronting cancer, sexual abuse, and the complexities of post-sixty life.
Lisa Ling, who featured Lee in her CBS Mornings series on the psychedelic renaissance, noted that the author’s approach avoids sensationalism in favor of a deeply human perspective. For Lee, the goal is to bridge the gap between clinical practice and individual narrative, offering a roadmap for those seeking healing through spiritual growth and emotional resilience. The book is currently available through major retailers as public and scientific interest in the therapeutic potential of these substances continues to climb.
